I’m always looking for “a little something” for my home. It might be a new touch of the season, a change of motif, a fresh color, or just because. Budget is always at the forefront of my mind when I’m looking for home decor pieces. Sure, I have to love it and it has to work with the look of my home…but first and foremost, it has to be affordable! Since I can’t wander the aisles of my favorite stores these days, I have been doing a lot of online wandering and wanted to share some of the fun pieces I’ve found that fit my affordable criteria (all these finds are under $30!).

For Farmhouse Chic
I love this rustic pitcher. This is what I would call an “evergreen” item, meaning you can use this 12 months of the year and change up how and where you use it with the seasons. Right now, I’d love to see it with daffodils and tulips or maybe hydrangea blooms. But, if you want to channel your inner Joanna Gaines, try stalks of cotton blossoms for a fabulous year round look.
My mom always had artwork or figurines of chickens and roosters in our kitchen when I was growing up. So, maybe this is a sentimental pick on my part, but you have to admit, it’s pretty cute! I like the distressing and the size won’t overwhelm a smaller kitchen.
I’ve always been a fan of decorative birdhouses…you can really let your imagination go with items like this. I also consider these evergreen type purchases because they’ll look just as great in the spring as they will during the holiday season. Whether you fill this with greenery and florals, sea shells, pumpkins or just simple flameless candles, they are a home decor must-have.
When life gives you lemons…decorate!
This is a little purchase that gives you a lot of options to “shop” your home. Go find a bowl…maybe from your grandmother’s wedding china that you rarely use. Or maybe it’s a cool vintage piece you picked up along the way and have never used. What about an oversized vase or mason jar? Whatever you have will turn into a decorator’s dream when you fill it up with these lemons. There’s something about a splash of yellow on a coffee table, kitchen island, or dining room buffet server that instantly adds cred to the space. And if you’re not into lemons, here’s a link for other types of fruit that you may like instead.https://www.wayfair.com/keyword.php?keyword=decorative+faux+fruit&class_id=
There is something very peaceful and serene about this angel. As I was putting this blog together, I was really drawn to her presence. I like to use items like this among photo collections of family and friends who have passed away, or in my bedroom, so that her calming presence is felt as I drift to sleep.
I’ve always been fascinated by Zen gardens. This tabletop version allows a little distraction and a path to calm your thoughts. When not in use, I think it adds a peaceful touch to your home.
Here birdie birdie….
Touches from nature work in any decor, any room, anytime of year. A simple bird figurine nestled into your bookcase, on your desktop or in a collection on a tray, will always looked designed. Here are a few I found that I really like:
It doesn’t hurt to walk around your home and see actual words of inspiration or fun. They can be standalone pieces to fill a wall, or part of a theme you’re creating in a room or on a table. Remember, they don’t always have to be hung. They look great leaning up against a wall atop a table as part of your family room or dining room decor.
Inside or Outside
I often find the cutest touches at garden shops. So whether you’re wanting to bring the outdoors in, or you’re looking to add something to make you smile when you’re on your deck, here are few pieces to inspire you!
I love the Fiestaware tray below for many reasons. It comes in over a dozen colors, so you’ll be able to find the match or the Pop! of color you’re looking for. But it’s so versatile! Of course you can use it for serving…but why not leave it out in your kitchen as a tray under all of your oils and vinegars and spices that you keep handy by the stove? Or use as a multi spoon rest? What about on your kitchen island with some little planted succulents? Or as a jewelry tray on your vanity? Or a catchall tray for your husband’s keys and change? You get the idea…think outside of the box! I love items like those below because they’re multitaskers…function meets decor…it’s the best combination!
The mirror above could just as easily be used on a tabletop with a candle garden on top of it!
I’ve always been a fan of lanterns in home decor. You can always find a place for one…and usually come back for more because they look great, add light, and have a presence about them that add to your decor.
As you’re looking around your home and seeing those empty and tired spaces, remember, it doesn’t take a total makeover to refresh your home. You can easily do it one piece, one AFFORDABLE piece, at a time!
