I use my slow cooker a lot. I mean, A LOT! As a working mom, my slow cooker is the reason my family has food for dinner on a lot of nights.
I equate having a slow cooker in my kitchen to having a chef. I can give it my ingredients at the start of the day, and come home to delicious food magic at the end of the day.
I primarily use my slow cooker for main course meals….soups, chili, stews, casseroles, etc. I’ve made a few desserts too, and I often use it to keep things warm on a holiday buffet.
But when I ran across this recipe in my Grandma’s recipe box, my appreciation for my slow cooker reached a whole new level!
Before I even tell you how good this slow cooker pumpkin butter is to eat…let me just warn you about how good your home is going to smell while this is cooking.
I think we need a candle and home fragrance line called pumpkin butter. Just wait, you’ll be jumping on this bandwagon the first time you make a batch!

How To Make Easy Slow Cooker Pumpkin Butter
This pumpkin butter has such a nice texture and the flavors of pumpkin, cinnamon, apple and maple all blend together for a tasty touch for your foods.
I like to use this pumpkin butter mixed in to oatmeal, vanilla yogurt, on a biscuit, as a dip for graham crackers, or even just on a spoon to satisfy an afternoon craving.
My Mom loves this on an english muffin in the morning, and it’s also really good on poundcake and gingerbread.

4 cups canned pumpkin purée
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup apple cider
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 Tbsp apple pie spice
- Combine the pumpkin, maple syrup, apple cider, and vanilla extract in a slow cooker
- Cover and cook on high for 2–4 hours
- In the last hour of cooking, add the apple pie spice
- Pour into jars and let cool.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to a month. This also freezes well.
