Isn’t it funny how some trends become popular out of the oddest of situations? And that’s the case with denim! Sure. Almost all of us have denim in our closets or in our homes these days, but denim wasn’t always this trendy.
Jeans were actually patented by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss (recognize the name?) back in 1873. At the time, they were worn by miners, war workers and other people working hands-on jobs.
But when they made their way to Hollywood in the mid-1900s, the denim jean look took off. Today, the indigo-dyed fabric we know and love is all over the place! Jackets, pants, purses and even home items like couches and pillows.

And if you know me well, you know I’m the QUEEN of denim!
So, since it’s National Denim Day, I thought I’d share some of my favorite denim finds with you so you can see why my love for denim hasn’t wavered over the years.

My Go-To Denim Clothing Items
When you think of denim clothing, a jean jacket has to be one of the first things to come to mind!
This jacket I’m wearing above is super versatile and classic. It’s from a clothing company called “Peach” and while the company is no longer around, I found a similar one HERE!
This ombre jacket is a little more unique, but it’s still a piece you can wear with just about anything! I purchased it years ago and it’s out of stock… but I found a similar one I think you’ll love HERE.
As you can see, I most often pair my denim jackets with basic shirts. Solids and stripes work well since they aren’t too distracting.

When layering, simplicity is key!
Another clothing article that comes to mind when you think of denim? Jeans, of course! I’ve been a fan of NYDJ jeans for years and if I’m being completely honest, they’re the only jeans I wear.
If you’re looking for a great pant for spring, you can’t go wrong with these Marilyn Straight Crop jeans. I love that they can be dressed up or down!
And since the warmer weather has finally arrived, it’s time to break out the white pants!
These Sheri Slim Ankle Jeans are also from NYDJ. I love the silhouette because they look fitted but don’t feel too tight or uncomfortable.
A Few Denim Accessories
Don’t stop at clothing! There are plenty of denim finds on the market—from bags to hats—that can upgrade your wardrobe.
I’ll start with this simple denim tote bag. You can bring it to the pool, out to dinner or even use it as a grocery bag. It’s so versatile!
I also like this denim backpack from Cotton On.
It features internal and external pockets. And it even has a top drawstring to keep everything secure.
I’m not much of a hat girl, but I know a few of you enjoy wearing hats! This classic baseball cap from LOFT is great for days under the sun. It protects your eyes. Plus, it’s super cute!
Some Home Items That Are Denim-Inspired
Now that you’ve got your personal style covered, how about your home style?
Adding some pillows to your space is a great way to change the look of a room.
I just adore the denim look of this pillow from Target. It has some beautiful texture and the navy color can go with neutrals or other pops of color.
This denim chair gives off a very classic vibe. Great for any home! It’s simple and comes in a solid color meaning you can dress it up with throw pillows or blankets without it looking too cluttered.
You can’t forget about the little ones! How cute is this Anywhere Chair from Pottery Barn? It’s on sale and you can even add a custom monogram to make it extra special.
This rug from Wayfair may not actually be considered “denim,” but between the color and the texture, it sure looks like it!
The woven pattern is great if you’re looking for some dimension, and the style can go with farmhouse, rustic, coastal or cottage decor.
My kids loved bean bags when they were younger. And if you know a kid who loves them too, check out this denim bean bag!
Whether you’re a denim fan when it comes to clothing or you’d like to incorporate more denim looks into your home, I hope these denim picks are helpful!
From my home to yours,
Jill
