It’s salad season! And if you’re looking for a new salad dressing to take your favorite salad to a whole new level, look no further than my Grandma’s Simple Salad Dressing.

This salad dressing brings back so many memories of my Grandma. She used to make big batches and send me home with plenty to share with friends and roommates.

Grandma's Salad Dressing

The good news is that it’s incredibly easy to make — meaning I could easily whip up a batch to enjoy even when I couldn’t make a trip to my grandparent’s house. And to this day, it’s the dressing I make for family dinners, picnics, neighborhood parties, and potlucks.

Here’s what you’ll need!

Salad Dressing

Tangy and sweet, this dressing takes any salad to a whole new level.

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup canola or vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon celery seed

Instructions

  1. In a food processor, combine chopped onions, vinegar, oil, ketchup, sugar, salt, and celery seed. Blend until smooth.
  2. Use atop salad immediately or store in a covered container in the refrigerator.

What I love about my Grandma’s Simple Salad Dressing is that you don’t need a lot. It’s so flavorful and rich, and a little can go a long way.

I typically create a salad with veggies (like tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, etc.) and add some avocado for a little more substance. The dressing is super fresh and while rich, not too heavy — making it great for summer salads.

Just like my Grandma used to make it for me, you can make it as a delicious food gift. Trust me when I say the recipient will ask you for the recipe as soon as they taste it!

So, do you think you’ll give it a try? I sure hope so… it’s a winner!

From my kitchen to yours,

Jill
