I’ve made it no secret that I love blue and white decor. It’s neutral, looks clean and crisp, and for summertime, I think it’s the perfect palette.

I’ve been playing around with how to use this combination in our dining room and think I finally got it “just right.”

The room and furniture are neutral, and that actually made it really easy to create a breezy, blue and white, slightly coastal, tabletop design.

Summer blues!

While the blue and white decor scheme dictated my direction, I also wanted to tie in the white washed woven texture on the back of the chairs. I’ve found that adding a touch of nature always gives my designs a “pop.”

Using natural elements adds great texture and weaves in another color so your design doesn’t feel overly matched and coordinated. You want it to look effortless! I love the woven chargers and napkin rings with this look

The napkins are what had me at hello. I loved the various patterns and had fun mixing them up at each place setting.

I used a chambray tablecloth. For the summer months, I thought it wouldn’t feel as heavy as something in dark blue. But I wanted to tie in some navy, so I used a darker runner in navy instead. I love how this chambray has striations of navy running through it!

My centerpiece is a result of shopping my house. The white “tray” is actually a wall hanging. It looks so crisp against the tablecloth and runner. The coral sculpture usually sits in an alcove as decoration, but I like what it adds to the tablescape. The blue seeded glass votives really anchor the look, by adding contrast and dimension.

For now, this look is all set for our family to use. I can’t wait until we can have friends over for dinner on the bay. I truly love entertaining, and setting a pretty table let’s my guests know how happy I am to have them at the table!

I’ve had a lot of you ask about some of the things I use in these tablescapes. So check out my tablescapes list if you want to purchase any of the items for your home.
