What an event to celebrate! It’s the 25th anniversary of the original Knock Out® Rose, and I’m excited to share with you a sneak peek of the flowers I’m growing in addition to why Knock Out® Roses will be a forever part of my garden.

Why Knock Out® Roses Are a Must in My Garden

Not familiar with Knock Out® Roses? That’s why I’m here!

First of all, roses in general can be intimidating. But Knock Out® Roses aim to make the timeless flower easy to grow, and abundant with blooms! Another great thing about these roses is that they repeat-bloom from spring to frost—creating beautiful flowers throughout the seasons.

My established Knock Out® rose bush is filled with buds and starting to bloom. There’s nothing like those iconic deep pink blooms! I’m always amazed at just how many rose buds appear each spring. I swear, there are times I feel like the number multiplies between breakfast and dinner! And here’s a little secret—I really don’t do much to have success with these roses.

Knock Out® roses are easy to grow because they are bred for disease resistance, aren’t picky about soil or fertilizer, do well in the ground or containers, and need very little pruning. In fact, Knock Out® roses are considered “self-cleaning,” meaning they naturally drop spent blooms. The only pruning needed is for removing dead or diseased canes or shaping the bush.

Meet More From The Knock Out® Rose Family

The Knock Out® Rose family has grown in recent years and now includes 12 varieties. The vast array of flowers includes vibrant colors like Orange Glow, one of my favorites. I planted a few of these last year, and loved them so much that I’m planning on adding the pretty orangey/coral roses to our coastal home too.

Orange is one of those “accent” colors I love to use in decorating and in my garden! And the contrast between the dark green foliage and the fiery blooms is pretty great! These really stand out in the garden.

The Knock Out® Family of roses is expansive, and if you want a deep red rose, I love this petite variety.

This small plant makes a big impact with fire-engine-red blooms and flower power, easy care, and disease resistance true of Knock Out® Roses. So basically, everything you love about your Knock Out® roses, just smaller in size but BIG on performance! These stay neat and compact and are a pleasure to grow!

Basic Tips For Growing Roses

Regardless of the type of roses you’re wanting to grow, here are a few tips to grow a beautiful bunch of your own:

  • Roses LOVE the sun. So make sure you plant them in an area where they’ll be in full sun (at least 6 hours a day).
  • Be sure to water regularly so that soil stays moist, but not waterlogged.
  • Apply a layer of mulch around the base of the plant to help retain moisture and to keep weeds at bay.
  • Roses are heavy feeders, so fertilize regularly…usually after the first round of spring blooms and again mid-summer.
  • Cut back weak or spindly stems to encourage new growth and remove any dead, damaged, or diseased stems.
  •  Inspect roses regularly for signs of pests or diseases. Treat pests and diseases promptly with appropriate control methods, such as organic pest control products or fungicides.

A Sneak Peek at More of My Garden

From lilacs to hydrangeas, I love adding some variety to my garden! I also love to grow my own berries, like blueberries and blackberries!

But with variety comes more planning and prep. See a few of my garden favorites and how to make sure they bloom beautifully HERE!
