This mixed berry dump cake is one of those dessert recipes I’ll make time and time again. Why? It’s baked in one pan and you can prep it in less than 10 minutes!

Let me tell you. The first time I made this, the pan didn’t last more than 24 hours. Maybe it’s the sweet yet tart berry base. Or maybe it’s the buttery, crumbly topping, slightly browned from baking.

Whatever it may be, it disappeared quickly (to no surprise!). And I wasn’t one bit disappointed because, with the affordability, simplicity, and deliciousness of this dump cake, I’d make it again in a heartbeat!

How To Make My Mixed Berry Dump Cake

The great thing about this recipe is that you don’t have to follow my ingredient list perfectly.

For example, I used a Betty Crocker yellow cake mix to make the crumbly topping. But you can also use a vanilla cake mix if you’d like the topping to taste a little sweeter vs. more buttery.

The recipe also calls for a couple of bags of mixed berries. I would typically make mine with a berry bag that includes strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries. But when I went to the store, the only bags available were a strawberry and blueberry blend.

It tasted just as good! So feel free to pick your preference on this step.

Another change you can make? The recipe includes chopped walnuts. Because the walnuts are meant to add crunch to the crumbly topping, you can use whatever nut you’d like! I love walnuts so I chose to stick with the classic recipe. But feel free to try another and let me know how it tastes!

“Enough of the chit-chat, Jill! Let’s see the recipe!” I know I know… but hopefully these tips will help avoid any mishaps while baking!

Mixed Berry Dump Cake Recipe

5-Ingredient Mixed Berry Dump Cake

5-Ingredient Mixed Berry Dump Cake

Tart, sweet, and buttery in every bite, this simple-to-make dump cake is an irresistible treat for any occasion!

Ingredients

  • 1 box cake mix (I would use vanilla or yellow)
  • 2 bags frozen mixed berries (12-15 ounces each)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup salted butter, melted (1 stick)

Instructions

  1. Spray a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray and heat your oven to 350 °.
  2. Spread frozen berries (not thawed) in the bottom of the dish and spread evenly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix (unprepared, mix only) with the walnuts, oats, and melted salted butter. Stir the mix together until thick crumbles form. Sprinkle the crumbles evenly over the frozen berries.
  4. Cook the cake for 45-55 minutes, or until a crisp brown topping forms and the berries start bubbling.
  5. Serve alone or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I like it best when warm!

Notes

In this recipe, my mixed berry bag included strawberries and blueberries. But if you find a bag of frozen berries that includes raspberries and blackberries too, that works as well!

Easy peasy, huh? The only thing that might be easier than making this mixed berry dump cake is polishing off the dish!

And good news. It tastes best when warm! So after letting the dish cool for a bit after it leaves the oven, feel free to serve it up. My favorite way to enjoy it is with a scoop of vanilla ice cream atop!

Tell me that doesn’t look delicious!

If you do end up with some leftovers and you’d like to save some of it for later, simply cover the pan with tin foil or plastic wrap and pop it in the fridge. It will stay good for around 3 days. You can eat it chilled or put it on a plate and heat it up in the microwave for a few seconds.

Simple. Sweet. And exquisite!
