Do you take vitamins and supplements regularly?
I’ve really come to rely on them for a number of different reasons.
If you know anything about me, it’s probably that I’m a fairly busy person.
Whether I’m in New York for a segment on the TODAY show, flying to Los Angeles to work with the Property Brothers, or discovering products for my online retail business, I run hard.
Not to mention the most important jobs in my life….Mom, wife, daughter, dog-mom.
And while I try to balance it all, it’s really more of a juggle. And every day, I hope I don’t drop the wrong ball.
Actually, the one ball I often drop is the “Jill” ball.
The Easiest Way To Take Care Of Myself
Like a lot of women I know, I parcel out my time and energy to take care of everyone around me. And taking care of myself is often at the bottom of the list.
That’s why taking the right vitamins and supplements has become so important to me.
I’m always on the look out for top quality products, and that’s what I discovered when I started shopping at Vitamin World.
At the age of 54, I accept the fact that I’ve likely lived 2/3 of my life.
But I still have a lot of living to do, and taking care of myself with the right supplements is the one ball I make sure I never drop.
*Before starting any new vitamin or supplement, please consult with your doctor. The results I’ve experienced may not be the same for you.
Where You Buy Vitamins Matters
I’ve been loyal to taking a multi vitamin since I was in college. If you’re counting, that’s over 30 years.
But the type of multi vitamin I take has changed over the years. What I needed in my 20’s is a lot different than what my body needs now.
I’ve also learned that not all vitamins are created equal.
And that’s one of the reasons I was drawn to the products available at Vitamin World.
Vitamin World is a U.S.-based company that has been in business for 45 years. Every product is rigorously tested for the highest quality standards.
With their unique assortment of vitamins, supplements and products for wellness, Vitamin World makes taking care of yourself easy!
It Starts With A Multi-Vitamin
A multivitamin is a real powerhouse in your well being.
Even the healthiest eaters among us can’t rely on food to give us all of the vitamins and minerals our bodies need.
I’ve been taking a unique multi vitamin blend from Vitamin World and I really like it!
Iron Free Green Active is a full spectrum multivitamin and multi-mineral that has been developed for those who don’t need to supplement their diet with extra iron. Since I am going through menopause, my doctor suggested that I no longer needed additional iron in my vitamin. *Please check with your physician before starting any new vitamin regimen.
I also love the special blends of green and whole foods, herbs, mushrooms and probiotics. Gotta love gut health!
From spirulina and chlorella to echinacea, green vegetable extracts and omega fatty acids, I like that I can reap the rewards of these ingredients in just a couple of tablets.
I’ve also found these to be very gentle on my tummy, which hasn’t always been the case with other supplements I’ve taken. They are gluten free, vegetarian and coated for easier swallowing.
The biggest difference I notice in myself is when I DON’T take my vitamins.
I feel a little off. Run down. Sluggish. Like my body is missing something…and, well, if I’m not taking my vitamin daily, my body IS missing something!
It’s a great reminder of the goodness that a well rounded multivitamin can provide.
Supplements For Joint Health
I know a little something about creaky joints.
I had my first knee surgery at the age of 22. And subsequently had 12 more surgeries on that same knee over the next 20 years.
Osteoarthritis took its toll on my health. I ached. It hurt to walk. It was hard to keep up with my kids.
Doctors from all over the country consulted with me over my knee troubles, and one of their consistent recommendations was to start taking a supplement for joint health.
I’m glad I discovered this supplement called Joint Mover. It features glucosamine, one of the top ingredients for supporting healthy joints, along with chondroitin to help maintain cartilage structure.
But there are additional ingredients in this formulation that I think give your stiff and achy joints their best shot at relief.
Joint Mover includes MSM, a sulphur compound, that studies have shown may reduce pain from arthritis and improve mobility in stiff joints.
You’ll also find this supplement contains Boswellia, more commonly known as Frankincense. Boswellia is an herbal extract that is recommended by the Arthritis Foundation as a potential therapy to help with both rheumatoid and osteoarthritis.
What I also like about the Joint Mover formula is the inclusion of Vitamin D.
I’ve learned a lot about the importance of Vitamin D because my son was diagnosed with a vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is essential for building and maintaining strong and healthy bones.
Without Vitamin D, your body is unable to properly absorb calcium, which is one of the building blocks of your bones.
But in addition to that, according to the Mayo Clinic, Vitamin D has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and neuroprotective properties which support immune health, muscle function and brain cell activity.
I love that my body is getting this Vitamin D boost from a supplement I’m already taking.
Do Menopause Symptoms Last Forever?
I’ve been asking myself that question a lot lately.
I started into “peri” menopause in my mid 40’s. Remember, I’m 54.
That’s a lot of years of experiencing the symptoms of menopause.
Changes in my skin. Changes in my weight and my body shape. (Do I even have a metabolism anymore?) Hot flashes.
Oh, those darn hot flashes.
Of all of my symptoms, the hot flashes have been the worst.
My OB-GYN suggested I try Evening Primrose Oil to help alleviate some of my menopause symptoms. She told me it had helped many of her patients, especially with hot flashes.
If you don’t know, Evening Primrose Oil or EPO, is a very concentrated source of Gamma Linolenic Acid, or GLA.
GLA is an essential fatty acid, an Omega 6, and is essential for our brain, skeletal and reproductive health.
The Evening Primrose Oil that I take from Vitamin World is 100% pure, cold pressed to maintain potency and delivers an amount of GLA for achieving beneficial results.
While EPO doesn’t halt menopause, for me, it has lessened the hot flashes dramatically. I didn’t realize how much the hot flashes were affecting me until I stopped having them as frequently!
EPO is also beneficial to the skin, so as I try to combat lines and wrinkles with topical skincare, I really like knowing that I’m helping to improve the look of my skin from the inside too.
