Today, we celebrate “National Wear Red Day,” which surprisingly, isn’t a way to show your love for Valentine’s Day. Instead, it’s a holiday created by the American Heart Association to spread awareness about cardiovascular disease.
While the impact of COVID-19 has taken a major toll on individuals across the world, heart disease and stroke still remain the leading killer of women in the United States. In fact, heart disease kills approximately one woman every 80 seconds — meaning it takes more lives than all forms of cancers combined.
The crazy thing is that this isn’t talked about as much as it should be. And that’s the reason National Wear Red Day is so important.
So I challenge all of you to wear something red today. Whether you sport a little red ribbon or dress head-to-toe in garnet, now is your time to spread awareness about the impact of cardiovascular disease in America.
To help you show your support, I rounded up some red-toned products to help you advocate in style. I also added some items from the American Heart Association which allow you do give back instantly.
