What do you get when you take a summer rose wine and combine it with frozen juicy watermelon? A wine-melon slushie, of course!

This wine-melon slushie tastes so good on a hot summer day. Cold and a little bit sweet. It’s a great way to change up your frozen drink recipe collection.

This recipe came about because I was in the mood for a daiquiri…but didn’t have any of the traditional ingredients. I had a bottle of wine and watermelon.

I didn’t want to water down the drink by using ice, so I figured frozen watermelon could do double duty. Worked like a charm!

This is a really refreshing way to enjoy a glass of wine and the sweetness of summer watermelon, all at the same time.

Wine-Melon Slushie

This wine-melon slushie is a really refreshing way to enjoy a glass of wine and the sweetness of summer watermelon, all at the same time.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white or rose wine
  • 3-4 cups cubed watermelon, frozen (overnight is best)
  • 1-2 tbsp honey (to taste and depending on sweetness of wine you choose… you’d need less with a moscato since it’s a sweeter wine)

Instructions

  1. Pour wine in blender.
  2. Add frozen watermelon and honey.
  3. Blend until it becomes a slushie. It should be a frozen daiquiri type consistency. Be sure to use a blender that you know can handle pulverizing ice well.

I like to serve this wine-melon slushie with a sugared rim glass.

Take a little lime or lemon wedge and spread juice around rim of glass. Put sugar on a plate and then turn glass upside down and turn rim in sugar.

I like to add a little food coloring to make the sugar green…then with the pink of the drink, it REALLY has that watermelon vibe!
