If you’re one of those busy bees that can’t seem to catch a break, I know how you feel. tips for good sleep
You wake up, check your phone, grab a quick bite, and head out the door.
When lunch rolls around, you’re ALREADY exhausted. But you still have more than half the day to go!
The solution?
A good night’s rest.
You saw that coming… I’m sure. But just because you know you NEED some quality sleep doesn’t mean you can easily rest your head at night.
That’s why I put together a few simple tips for good sleep you can follow to get a good (okay… decent) night’s rest.

Set a Schedule
One of the most important things you can do is to set a sleep schedule for yourself.
While your routine might look a little different from one day to the next, you should always try to go to bed at the same time.
And most adults should get approximately 7 hours of sleep per night. So that can be your starting point!
Here’s a tip: Set an alarm for when you should start getting ready for bed and when you should actually be in bed. I use my Apple Watch (it buzzes my wrist when it sounds an alarm) and I find it to be super helpful for those alerts.
Plan for The Next Day
Have a lot on your mind? Clear your head before you hit the bed!
I like to write down my schedule for the following day prior to snuggling up under the covers.
I also check my planner and jot down any extra to-do’s that might be on my plate so I don’t forget.
And if I have some extra thoughts on my mind, I pull out a notebook to get those out of my head and onto a page instead.
While it’s best to put down the phone or tablet before you get in bed, it isn’t always possible.
But try to use a pair of blue light glasses so that the screen doesn’t affect your sleep quality!
Give Yourself a Little Pampering
Now I don’t always have time to pamper myself before I go to bed… but when I do I find that I sleep 10x better!
I start by taking a nice shower or a bath just to decompress.
When a shower is the choice of the night, I use the Musee Shower Steamers that make my shower smell just incredible.
The sheet masks from Musee are also amazing… if you haven’t tried them, now’s your chance!
After, I like to make myself a cup of tea to unwind.
I don’t know about you, but The Sleepytime Tea from Celestial Seasonings is my fav.
Finally, I enjoy slipping into a pair of aloe-infused fuzzy socks. I mean, it just sounds super cozy… right?
I’m a fan of this set from MUK LUKS. They’re oh-so-soft and they even come with a fuzzy headband.
Great for keeping your hair out of the way while doing your makeup!
Create an Ideal Sleep Environment
Even if you go through the steps above, you won’t be able to get a good shut-eye without feeling comfortable in your space.
So, cozy up your space and get it in shape for a restful night!
To no surprise… it’s not the best ideas to light a candle when you’re getting ready to fall asleep. So, I like to use a diffuser instead.
The diffuser we carry in the Just Jill Shop is a great option to unwind.
And when my room finally smells calming, I focus on the place that matters most… my bed!
The HygroCotton Sheets from Scott Living Home are my go-to. With a thread count of 400, they’re ultra-soft and cooling.
I also like to keep this organizer by my bed.
It’s a great place to keep a book that I can read before falling asleep. There are also pockets for my reading glasses, a small water bottle, and any medications I might need before bed.
This is also a perfect gift for college kids!
Use a Sleep Gadget
These days, sleep gadgets are super popular.
There are alarms, sleep cycle monitors, smart lights… the list goes on!
One of the most popular gadgets on the market is the Hatch Restore Sleep Machine.
Not only does it help you set a sleep and wake schedule, it wakes you up naturally by mimicking a sunrise!
You can play sounds and “moods” to help you relax, and you can control everything from your phone.
How neat is this Sky Lite Galaxy Projector?
I bought it for my daughter’s first college apartment and she tells me ALL the time how much she loves it!
Great for those who want a little light and the feeling of a more natural sleep space.
I don’t own these or use them… but I’m a huge fan of the Bose brand!
They’re called Sleepbuds and they’re supposed to help you fall asleep faster.
They deliver relaxing sounds that you can control from your phone. The little buds are also super comfortable… ideal for getting a good night’s rest.
Feeling tired? Hopefully, these tips for good sleep will help!
