I know I’m pushing it by calling a recipe with apples, whipped topping, vanilla pudding, and Snicker bars a SALAD. But let’s shift our thinking away from lettuce and cucumbers and more to family gatherings and the potluck variety of salads.

You know like Ambrosia salad or Watergate salad. (I happen to have delicious recipes for these salads too!) These sweet treat salads are known for their creamy mixture of ingredients and seem to be just as at home as a side dish as they are as a dessert.

Frankly, I love the idea of an easy dessert salad… especially if the weather is warm and I don’t want to bake dessert.

YES! This Candy Bar Apple Salad Is Delicious!

If you can’t fathom the idea of apples, your favorite candy bar pieces, and a tub of cool whip (or homemade whipped cream) then all I can tell you is this: Don’t Knock It Until You Try It!

Candy Bar Apple Salad

At the heart of this fun recipe is all the flavors of a yummy caramel apple. It’s just a different version than that sticky apple on a stick.

This is such an easy recipe that uses simple ingredients. And the best part is that since fall apple season is here, you’ll find an assortment of the best apples at your local grocery stores and markets. This apple Snickers salad recipe isn’t picky about the type of apple you use either. I prefer granny smith apples. I really like tart apples for this delicious recipe because it balances with the sweetness of the Snickers bars, the creamy pudding mixture, and the caramel sauce.

But if you prefer, red apples like Gala and Pink Lady work fine too.  You could even do a mix of red apples and green apples and put a holiday spin on this candy salad! My only recommendation is to stay away from a softer apple, like a Red Delicious.  I think they become a little mushy, so I think crisp apples are best.

Candy Bar Apple Salad Ingredients

The ingredient list for this Snickers caramel apple salad recipe is super short: apples, Snickers bars, instant vanilla pudding mix (or try instant butterscotch pudding for a fun flavor twist!) milk, whipped topping (or homemade whipped cream), and a drizzle of caramel to finish it off.

The apples and candy bars should be cut into bite-sized pieces. And I like to toss my apples in a little lemon juice to keep them from browning. Once you’ve combined the instant pudding mix (make sure it’s INSTANT) with the milk and whipped cream, you add the chopped apples and the chewy chunks of Snickers, and just like that… you’ve whipped up a candy bar salad that will become one of your next favorite things!

Candy Bar Apple Salad

The sweet caramel and Snickers with the tart Granny Smith apples make this "salad" quite the treat!

Ingredients

  • 4 large apples (I prefer Granny Smith)
  • 4-5 Snickers bars
  • 8 ounces Cool Whip
  • 1 (3.4 ounce) box instant vanilla pudding
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Mix the milk and pudding together in a bowl, then fold in the cool whip.
  2. Cut up apples and Snickers and add them to the mix. Drizzle caramel sauce on top. Serve cold! (I also like to add some extra cubed Snickers bars on top, too!)

Notes

You can make this Snicker salad recipe up to a day in advance. You can also store it for 2-3 days covered in the fridge. Though you may need to give it an extra stir before serving.

It’s true β€” the first time you taste this Snickers apple salad recipe, your tastebuds will be doing a happy dance. From the tartness of granny smith apples to the sweetness of the candy bars that are all brought together in this creamy vanilla fluff…it’s just a great recipe to enjoy.

Keep this candy bar apple salad recipe handy after Halloween too. Milky Way bars, Rolos, and even a Twix can all easily be used in place of a Snickers. What a delicious way to use up that leftover candy! And play around with the pudding flavors too. White chocolate and cheesecake come to mind… any other ideas?

So the next time you have a craving for a decadent caramel apple dipped in chocolate and nuts, just know you’re only a “salad” away from indulging in those delicious flavors you love.
